No Trach Now!!!!!!

Brayden accidentally pulled his trach out on Saturday Morning. We couldn't get another one put back in. He wasn't having any trouble breathing so we took him to Gordon Hospital. By the time we got signed in and put in a room the hole in his throat where his trach was completely closed shut. By the time the doctor came in the room there was no putting the trach back in. He would have to have surgery to get it back in. They didn't want to deal with him there so he was transported to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite by ambulance. Brayden was breathing fine all on his own. The doctors checked him out and said everything looked ok and sent us home. We were totally shocked. We thought surely we would be staying overnight for them to observe him there. Brayden has been breathing fine all on his own with no TRACH!!!!Everyone please pray that Brayden continues to do well without the trach!!!! We are so happy that it is finally gone and hope it stays that way!!!!

Its been a while......

Its been a while since I have posted anything. Brayden's surgery went fine, but we found out that he will have to keep the trach for at least another year. There was no scar tissue that could be removed but his airway is still very narrow. They hope that he will grow more and his airway will get bigger. If it doesn't he will have to have reconstructive surgery on his throat. So they want him to keep the trach and recheck his throat in 1 year. Brayden did get his new feeding button. It has been great not having that tube hanging on him all the time. Brayden has been feeling well and has been all smiles and laughing all the time. Christmas was good and Brayden got lots of toys to make him smile. We are hoping for big changes in the New Year. We are going to be working hard to learn new things and make great progress. Happy New Year to Everyone!!!!!!!!!
